| Welcome again to a new E-News. Yesterday it was 3 years ago that Klaus Schulze left this earth. He went beyond the stars so time to put 3 albums from him on (after each other!) and blast them through my stereo. Blackdance / Body Love II and X took me for 3 hours into a world that I still even today can not describe. Musically perhaps my biggest influence of Electronic Music Klaus his creations still stun me every day I listen to them. I am blessed to have discovered his music at a young and open minded age! And as I am preparing the concerts I am going to do with Ian Boddy on E-Day and Diode I noticed that to this day this great artist influences me. We expect his new release Bon Voyage in this week!! His other live release with Boddy was from their only concert together so far, “EC12” (DiNDDL16), from their performance at the Electronic Circus in Germany in 2012. That is, until April 2024, when the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool invited Wøllo to perform alongside Boddy at what would be his UK debut. During the evening at the Capstone each musician played solo sets and then combined on stage to play an electrifying hour long performance mining tracks from their previous two albums “Meridian” (DiN54) and “Revolve” (DiN73). It is this joint concert that forms their new release, “Transmissions” (DiN92). Taking the original pieces as their starting point the duo played reworked and extended versions of these tracks with Wøllo getting the chance to play some wonderful guitar solos that take the music to a whole new level. Meanwhile Boddy used his Eurorack modular system to sculpt and mould the rhythmic sequencers and drums around Erik’s playing, as well as adding his distinctive French Connection Ondes style voicings. The main set was a continuous sonic journey through mystical soundscapes and rhythmic slices of Berlin School sequencing. The final encore track was a rendition of the track “Apogee” from the duos 2022 album “Revolve” (DiN73) with Wøllo playing a blistering guitar solo over Boddy’s heavy, sequenced grooves. This is a real treat for DiN aficionados and a perfect example of how two experienced musicians can take existing material and take it to new emotional heights in a live setting. =========================================================== A small recap of the Groove releases planned for this coming week. Martin is very charmed by Gert’s music and we might be able to inspire each other to greater heights. Rene asked Gert and he was interested. After a Teams meeting with the three of us, it turns out that it will be quite difficult to realize this in practice. The geographical aspect in particular causes problems. Gert lives in the far north, Rene in the far southeast and Martin in the far southwest. Then it remains quiet for a while until Rene releases his CD ‘Cosmic Equilibrium’ in December 2024. Rene is eager to make a new CD with Beyond Berlin. When Ron Boots asks us at the end of December 2024 to perform at E-Day 2025, we really have to get to work. Beyond Berlin wants to play as much new music as possible at a performance. So Martin starts digging into demos that might be suitable for Beyond Berlin and there are some pretty old demos in there. Rene also has some Reaper projects that we can work on together. The projects are sent back and forth. Martin adds music to Rene’s projects and Rene adds music to Martin’s. Once that’s done, Martin starts mixing and fine-tuning the projects so that it becomes a consistent whole. After some sending back and forth of the tracks, we are both satisfied and it can be sent to Ron. Rene has made the cover for the CD. And so here lies a new CD from Beyond Berlin called Meandering Tear. The title comes from the name of one of the tracks on the CD and it is an anagram for …. ================================= gr-384 – Otarion – time of nations https://www.groove.nl/shop/otarion-time-of-nations/?v=1a13105b7e4e  The first CD from Otarion on Groove. Since Mellowjet stopped with producing new releases Rainer Klein asked Groove to releases this music. And I said full YES as this is a sulime album. Straight to what I love, Melodic, Great rythms, Great Sequences and wonderfull Guitar playing!! If you love F.D.Project, Morpheuzs or Maxxes you are going to love this release. Before that they made several quite successful cassettes. Together they composed for years Berlin School and ambient music for themselves. |
