Whether it’s the music, the visual images or the story itself, all elements share a common intuition and ask the same question: when is something really perfect? As in the previous story from 2023, Erbe blends the music with self-designed visuals and once again presents a complex and AI-generated universe of future thoughts and emotional developments of synthetic characters facing their own contradictions and moral choices. Of course, this theme is not entirely new, but Erbe presents it in a very special way. Music, images and story form a unity that has never been seen before. On the one hand, you get the feeling that Erbe’s musical ideas are clear to decipher and that you can completely immerse yourself in the presentation of the story. ================================= gr-392 – Johan Tronestam – Settlers Available as CD/Flac/mp3 (CD contains a free mp3 version of the album) : https://www.groove.nl/shop/johan-tronestam-settlers/?v=1a13105b7e4e Bandcamp: https://tronestamjohan.bandcamp.com/album/settlers ![]() Settlers is not just an album — it is a journey. Each track unfolds a narrative of exploration, transformation, and remembrance, set against the vast canvas of the cosmos. The music combines spiritual longing with philosophical inquiry, tracing the emotional arc of pioneers seeking a new beginning in a faraway world. ================================= gr-395 – UNI Sphere – OPUS TRIA Available as CD/Flac/mp3 (CD contains a free mp3 version of the album) : https://www.groove.nl/shop/uni-sphere-opus-tria/?v=1a13105b7e4e Bandcamp: https://unisphereerikrene.bandcamp.com/album/opus-tria ![]() Eric van der Heijden and René Splinter are both accomplished musicians who, either solo or in collaboration with others (especially in Eric’s case), have already produced a wealth of beautiful music. As a duo, they complement each other remarkably well. The concert at E-Live featured an impressive stage design—there was genuinely something to see, not just visuals on a backdrop. This year marks UNI Sphere’s tenth anniversary. OpUS Tria is their third album, following Endless EndeavoR (2015) and TempUS (2021). What I find most impressive about UNI Sphere’s music is that both artists are exceptional composers and excellent keyboardists—something that is clearly reflected in their sound. The album opens with Silent Bloom of Thunder, which presents a striking contrast: delicate piano tones alongside what almost sounds like a guitar-like cry on an electric instrument. A melodic section with tasteful percussion follows. The entire composition is highly evocative and almost cinematic. This becomes especially evident in pieces like Power of Possibility and Through the Quiet Zone, which could easily function as film scores. The second half reminds me somewhat of Tangerine Dream’s early 1980s era (the Johannes Schmoelling period). The Universe in US shares that same wonderful atmosphere. Here René delivers a Schmoelling-style solo on the Roland Jupiter-6 synthesizer. Gentle, relaxed sequencing and a wistful Mellotron flute colour Shifting Your Horizon. Where Light Begins… And Ends closes the album with beautifully melodic sequencing lines, and the piano from the very beginning of the album makes a welcome return. What UNI Sphere creates truly belongs, in my opinion, among the finest in melodic electronic music today. Here’s to the next ten years! —Paul Rijkens ================================= gr-396 – Colin Rayment – Optical Perceptions Available as CD/Flac/mp3 (CD contains a free mp3 version of the album) : https://www.groove.nl/shop/colin-rayment-optical-perceptions/?v=1a13105b7e4e Bandcamp: https://colinraymentongroove.bandcamp.com/album/optical-perceptions ![]() Sometimes, We Can Perceive Something In A Different Way. We All Have Our Own Unique Way Of Interpreting, Whether It’s Visually Or Otherwise. An Unusual Perspective Can Completely Change How An Object Looks. For Example, Shape Manipulation/Distortion, Whether Through A Lens, Light Refraction, Water, Or Any Other Way Of Altering How Something Is Viewed. All These Scenarios Have The Ability To Alter Our Perception, By Creating Optical Effects Or Illusions. And, Although This Refers To Everything Optically, Life Can Also Be Perceived In A Unique Way And Through Differing Optics…. ==================================== gr-393 – AE van Elst Projects – The Art of AE -live- Available as CD/Flac/mp3 (CD contains a free mp3 version of the album) : https://www.groove.nl/shop/ae-van-elst-projects-the-art-of-ae-live/?v=1a13105b7e4e ![]() After years of working on new compositions in the studio, they decided to approach Groove Unlimited (Ron Boots) to release a series of EM albums. This collaboration led to an invitation to perform at E-live 2024 (NL) and later at Grill Fest Schallwende 2025 (DE). The Art of AE Live features compositions that reflect the diversity of their repertoire. They are characterized by piano (Cycles), sequences (Take Off), storytelling (Scandinavian Travel), ambient music (Overture), and cinematic/end credits music (Thanks Dad). ================================= gr-394 – Neuronium – Bare Soul https://www.groove.nl/shop/neuronium-bare-soul/?v=1a13105b7e4e ![]() This might very well be the most personal album by Nueronium. As we all know Michel Huygen the man behind Neuronium is on of the finest EM artists with over 50 albums on his name. Space music at his best and alreay nominated for a Grammy Award!! ================================= Peter Mergener – Chip Meditation 2025 https://www.groove.nl/shop/peter-mergener-chip-meditation-2025/?v=1a13105b7e4e ![]() A new album from Software? Not quite… Chip Meditation was one of Software’s most successful IC albums in the 1980s. Peter Mergener was primarily responsible for the music at the time and is now celebrating the 40th anniversary of Chip Meditation 2025, a cult album that set new standards in the electronic music scene. Since the project cannot be continued under the name Software, Peter decided to release it as a solo album. Electronic music fans know that Peter Mergener was actually the musical force behind Software at the time. Music to dream to. That’s what electronic music listeners associate with Chip Meditation. On Chip Meditation 2025, the choir sounds are interspersed with the typical Software sequences (trademark!), which interweave with warm pads and culminate in a successful Berlin School track. The sounds develop fluidly, with occasional effects and splashes of colour reminiscent of Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream, and gain depth through the pad sounds. Peter Mergener knows how to showcase these traditional Berlin School style elements in the current full sound within these completely new composed material in a first-class way, in an atmosphere in which one can ‘bathe’ as in the old days. Fans have had to wait a long time for Peter to revive the ‘old days’ again. Sweet dreams! ================================= Robert Schroeder – Relaxesizer https://www.groove.nl/shop/robert-schroeder-relaxesizer/?v=1a13105b7e4e ![]() ================================= And this CD is announced and will be in in November!! Jürgen Pluta – Blanche https://www.groove.nl/shop/jurgen-pluta-blanche/?v=1a13105b7e4e ![]() 1 Montreux 2 Bayswater 3 Airports 4 Blanc Et Noir 5 Siberian Nights 6 Valentyne 7 Voyage 8 Voyage (Remix) With Blanche, Jürgen Pluta’s electronic solo debut is being released digitally and on CD for the first time – 45 years after its original release. The former bassist of Wallenstein, Streetmark and Embryo recorded the album in 1979 at Procom Studio Kirchhellen, supported by Rolf Eggemann (drums) and Fritz Frey (guitar). Pluta, influenced by his collaboration with Harald Großkopf (Ashra Tempel, Wallenstein), developed his own sound language between Krautrock, synthesizer experimentation and atmospheric electronics. Blanche combines analog warmth with futuristic vision – a work that moves stylistically between cosmic music, early ambient and progressive electronics. The CD has been remastered by Eroc and contains an exclusive remix of the track “Voyage” by Harald Großkopf as a bonus. A fascinating contemporary document from the transitional phase between Krautrock and electronic avant-garde. Copyright © 2025 Groove Unlimited, All rights reserved. |
