Shamima Jasmin was a well known traditional singer and vocal teacher from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was also my mother-in-law. In 2011, she recorded many self written songs and some traditionals. She accompanied herself on the harmonium. Three of these songs ended up in a collaboration with me, Tracks 13 and 14 are twoof these tracks. During February 2025, I found a long lost USB stick back that belonged to my wife Laila. On the stick I found all the songs from Shamima Jasmin from 2011 and started composing music around it. Two months later, the album was finished. About Nirobota: actually the recorded vocal track had a very poor quality, but I couldn’t resist making a track out of it, because it’s the only really up tempo track. The track is added as a bonus track. Dui Digonte, Nirjono and Pagol Mon are traditionals. Shamima Jasmin: vocals, harmonium, writer of all lyrics, except for the traditionals, vocal and harmonium arrrangements. Recorded in 2011 in Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Gert Emmens: all other instruments, composer of the music. Composed and recorded in February and March 2025 in Ede, Netherlands, 13 & 14 in 2011 in Arnhem, Netherlands. Shamima Jasmin passed away in 2018. This album is dedicated to Abdur Rahman and Shamima Jasmin, my beloved late parents-in-law.
