Silence began in Frankfurt in the early 1990s as a collaboration between Pete Namlook and Dr. Atmo, whose ambient nights at the XS club brought the two musicians together. Released in December 1992, their first album was the first full-length ambient release on Namlook’s newly founded FAX label and soon became an early label classic. The second album took the project into deeper and darker territory. Namlook later continued Silence alone. Silence III, IV and V, released between 1998 and 2001, moved through Persian-influenced desert imagery, symphonic textures, environmental sound, soprano, flute and guitar. The complete series now appears for the first time as a 5CD box set. More than five and a half hours of music, including the complete twenty-two-minute original version of Heaven. Button |
Rudy Adrian – Along The Coppermine Ridge https://www.groove.nl/shop/rudy-adrian-along-the-coppermine-… Along the Coppermine Ridge, the new album from celebrated Spotted Peccary artist Rudy Adrian, is like the essence of landscape photography in sonic form. Here, in vast texture and shimmering chimes, Adrian conjures dense forests and dramatic mountain crests, breeze-buffeted snowdrifts and swirling cloud formations of self-reflection. Button |
Hollan Holmes – Emerald Waters https://www.groove.nl/shop/hollan-holmes-emerald-waters/ Hollan Holmes’s second album for Spotted Peccary, Emerald Waters, is an electronic paean to the sea. Inspired by the beauty, power and importance of water, Emerald Waters is both calm and dynamic. Here, a plethora of synthesizers ebb and flow around each other like shifting tides in a sonic mix of Berlin School sequences, traditional melodic structures and emotional chord progressions.
