Esthtique is Robert Schroeder’s 25th opus. And for this occasion the synthesist from Aachen gathered all of his musical personalities to create an album to musical tendencies strongly diversified. Musical genres which are inspired by his works of the vintage years, the more contemporary years and those of his alter egos; Double Fantasy or Food 4 Fantasy. Forged in the lascivious and mesmerizing rhythms of its 7 titles, Esthtique music floats in our ears with groovy, synth pop, mid-tempo and cosmic funk approaches which are lovingly wrapped in beautiful dreamlike and poetic synth layers. Rhythms and atmospheres which interlace softly in delicious lunar phases, with just it take to keep us awakened.

Een jubileum voor deze Duitse elektronische muziekproducer. Sinds z’n debuut in 1978 maakte Robert Schroeder al 25 platen. De nieuwe cd Esthtique is een natuurlijke opvolger van het geluid wat hij de laatste jaren laat horen. Dat is verzorgde, melodieuze licht ritmische muziek met een lounge en chill out-sfeertje eroverheen. Op dit album voegt hij iets vaker dan voorheen stemsamples en geluidseffecten toe aan het totaalbeeld. Het is aangename muziek om op het hebben staan in de huiskamer. Niet dwingend om aandacht vragend, en eerlijkheidshalve vermeld ook niet al te spannend. Van het ruime uur muziek bevallen opener Neutron Swarm en het afsluitende Oscillation mij persoonlijk het beste omdat ze toch nog enkele sporen bevatten van de uitschieters in het oeuvre van Robert Schroeder (Harmonic Ascendant, Timewaves, Brain Voyager). Geluidstechnisch is Esthtique van de hoogste kwaliteit; zeker esthetisch verantwoord. De composities hadden desaln iettemin iets meer karakter mogen hebben.
