E-News 1330 – 15th July 2023

Hello All

Lots of new releases added and even more from the collections.
Some asked me if I could make a list but that is at this moment undo-able.
We don’t even have the time to add all of them fast to the catalog 🙂
But if you check just once a day the first shop page you can follow what is added nicely.

https://www.groove.nl/shop/?v=796834e7a283

This always shows the last 30 titles that where added to the catalog.
And when a title is sold from the collections we will remove it normally with in a day. So there should be no out of stock titles. So have a look if you want some really cool CDs of which some have been out of print for years !

New Titles

P’cock – The IC Years – The Prophet & In ‘cognito
https://www.groove.nl/shop/pcock-the-ic-years-the-prophet-in-cognito/?v=796834e7a283

The band was founded as “Peacock” in 1975 by Tommy Betzler and initially toured the extended Rhine-Main area and built up a small but loyal fan base. Recording a demo tape and sending it to the record companies proved unsuccessful. There was a hail of rejections, especially on the grounds that the time of progressive rock is now really over and disco is now all the rage. In short – Peacock decided to disband. But they had done the math without Klaus Schulze…

In order to impress Klaus, it was decided to give a live concert in Darmstadt’s trendy shop “Die Goldenen Krone” so that the master could get a musical impression. To cut a long story short – at the dinner that followed, a record deal was signed and a few days later Peacock were already in the Panne-Paulsen studio in Frankfurt to record their debut album “The Prophet” (1980), produced by Klaus Schulze himself. Here it turned out that there was already a band of the same name, so that they came up with the elegant solution to call themselves P’cock from now on. In 1981 the second P’cock record “In ‘cognito” followed, this time produced directly in Klaus Schulze’s studio in Winsen.

P’cock proved to be one of the most innovative German rock bands beyond the worn-out Krautrock idiom on the threshold of New Wave and the New German Wave, which was still to be taken seriously at the beginning.

Lionel Palierne – La cité aux 9 portes
https://www.groove.nl/shop/lionel-palierne-la-cite-aux-9-portes/?v=796834e7a283

The album “The City of 9 Doors” was composed on a Roland MC500 that I had bought in 1986. During these years I took over and modified certain passages with the following instruments: Yamaha MODX, E-mu e5000, Korg Radias, Roland Fantom G7. To write this album, I had studied Arnold Schoenberg’s treatise on harmony a lot. I had worked on very complex harmonies. A big thank you to Bertrand Loreau for these sound advice on mixing.

V/A – iNDEX08
https://www.groove.nl/shop/v-a-index08/?v=796834e7a283

iNDEX08 is the eight DiN compilation album and includes two tracks each from the titles
DiN71 – 79. The artists on show this time are Polypores, Scanner, Ian Boddy, d’Voxx,
Parallel Worlds, Surface 10, Node and Lyonel Bauchet as well as a collaboration between
Ian Boddy & Erik Wøllo.

As with the previous seven DiN samplers label boss Ian Boddy has mixed and cross-faded the 18 tracks into a continuous ambient mix that not only showcases the albums featured on the release but presents an exciting and varied title in its own right. It also highlights the varied and intriguing music that the DiN label offers on its releases from deep analogue synth grooves through vibrantly melodic instrumentals to powerful, epic ambient atmospheres. An intoxicating mix of the old and new beautifully presented in a slimline cardboard wallet with an extra flap which just adds to the value and collectibility of this release.

With a total release catalogue now of 118 titles the DiN label is continuing to innovate and evolve as it heads toward 2024 when it will celebrate 25 years of releasing quality instrumental electronic and ambient synth music.
