E-News 1345 – November 11th 2023

Hello All

It’s 2.00 Saturday night, been in bed all day so awake now.
Got a nasty cold, and sniffing since 2 days! So a short E-News.
But it’s looking and feeling better since the day in bed with Hotcoldrex 🙂

I GOOFED UP!!
Last week I made a big mistake by deleting ALL! mail addresses in Mailchimp and you can not recover them after you removed them (not handy btw). Luckily I had 3 saves from former addings so most will get this E-News this week.

If I added you incorrectly then I am very sorry and please let me know or just unsubscribe. This E-News is the lifeline of Groove so please consider just joining us!

If you have friends or others that do get is normally but now did not get it and asked about it then just let them subscribe again or mail me so I can add them.
I should not work on the mail adresses in Mailchimp when I am upset 🙂

Act 2 for E-Day 2024 – 20 of April CKE.

Matzumi
This name stands for symphonic electronic music by a German electronic musician with an unmistakable singing voice, which she uses expressively like another instrument in her music. She describes her music as the soundtrack of her life, as unfiltered emotions set to music. After 10 years away from the stage and a musical break of several years, Matzumi returns to the stage. THE comeback for Matzumi in 2024.

At the beginning of 2021, the production of a new concept album began in her new studio in Switzerland, which is currently still awaiting its release.
On April 20, 2024, Matzumi will perform her new album – the title of which has not yet been revealed – at E-Day. You can expect a unique firework of sound that knows how to stir up emotions.

So it is looking to become a great day for EM again.
Ticket sales will start somewhere in December. (Waiting on the final acts and Price of the CKE!

S-A-W (Schmoelling -Ader – Waters) – Hydragate (Vinyl)

S.A.W. manage to deliver a mixture of ambient, electronica and cinematic sound collages with their second album “Hydragate”. On the 10-track album, the quartet traverses different emotional energies from epic power to lightness. On “Surface Illusions” and “Hydragate” you can hear composed melody lines as you already knew them from Johannes Schmoelling from his time with Tangerine Dream. Also in “Whispering Colours” one recognizes the dexterity to program sequences that take the listener into a trance-like world of their own. On “Sphere” you discover a filigree sound design – no wonder, because band member Kurt Ader is not only a composer, but also a sound designer for various leading synthesizer manufacturers and programs sounds for well-known bands and artists such as e.g. B. Nightwish, Dream Theater or Michael Cretu. “Inside Out” impresses with the use of alienated ethnic sounds and on “Master Of Time” you can hear echoes of the electronic music of the 1970s as they meet the dark ambient sounds of the present time. Even very rhythmic titles are missing on the new S.A.W. album not, e.g. B. can be heard on “Distant Memories” and “Stop And Go”. “Hydragate” was developed in various studios in Munich, Berlin, Mannheim and Hitzacker, using various samples, analogue drum machines, modular and digital synthesizers. Ben Edwards, better known by his pseudonym Benge, has been exploring the sonic possibilities of electronic instruments since he was a young boy, in the1970s. After graduating from art school in 1990 he set up his own music studio and started recording his unique blend of experimental electronica, culminating in his debut album “Electro-Orgoustic Music” and the formation of Expanding Records in 1995. Since then he has released dozens of albums as Benge, as well as collaborating with various luminaries from the electronic music world on many other album projects. He has formed several notable and ongoing bands such as John Foxx & The Maths, Wrangler (with Stephen Mallinder / Cabaret Voltaire and Phil Winter / Tunng), Fader (with Neil Arthur / Blancmange), and his most recent project Creep Show (Wrangler + John Grant). Benge’s creative output now centres around his Memetune Studio Complex, located in one of the UKs remotest moorland locations, writing and producing his various music projects as well as making video art and TV programmes about his activities.

“The View From Vega”, his debut solo album on the DiN imprint, is primarily an ambient suite of tracks inspired by the space-music typically produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It uses a selection of vintage synthesisers, sequencers and FX units to provide a fertile sonic landscape to explore. The idea was to use simple sequences (using both analogue and digital units), sustained synthesiser pads and electronic piano improvisations, alongside various ancient delay, flange and reverb units. The beautiful, warm quality of the tones that exude from such instruments are very evident on the six tracks that slowly unfold their oscillations in organic, melodic soundscapes.

An unashamedly vintage sounding album in all its analogue glory, “The View From Vega” is released both as a 180g Vinyl edition and a Digipak CD with stunning artwork from Wendy Carroll that matches the music perfectly.

Limited to 300 copies Wolfgang Bock – Mintaka
https://www.groove.nl/shop/wolfgang-bock-mintaka/?v=796834e7a283

Wolfgang Bock’s new studio album in the best tradition of the Berlin School.

A musical sign of life from the Klaus Schulze student for 26 years
The electronic musician Wolfgang Bock comes from Klaus Schulze’s environment and his 1980 debut “Cycles” is not only heavily influenced by him and the Berlin School, Klaus Schulze also produced this debut. 2 years later, Bock released a maxi single with four tracks, Helicopter, under the pseudonym Paul Flieger, on which he experimented with the Neue Deutsche Welle and mixed the heaviness of the Berlin School with the lightness of the Düsseldorf School. Three more albums followed on Sky in the 1990s. Afterwards, Wolfgang Bock actively withdrew from the music scene, he dedicated himself more and more to his passion as a single-handed sailor, left Germany and moved to Spain. “Cycles” was re-released in 2022, and the media reacted euphorically to this re-release after 42 (!) years. Reason enough for Wolfgang Bock to go back into the studio and produce a new album with “Mintaka” after more than 26 years. And all these special Tangerine Dream Maxi singles are back in stock again!!
Of which the Stereolight is the last shipment we could get!!

Tangerine Dream – Stereolight / Maedchen On The Stairs (Vinyl EP)
