E-News 1342 – October 17th 2023
Hello all.

E-Live 2023

So E-Live has passed, a great day with fantastic music.
5 Acts that gave us a nice wide spread of our beloved Electronic Music.
240 tickets for the hall, and a total of over 280 guest make this a very successful day.
A great set of photo’s are made available by Andre Stooker!!

Great guests like Jerome Froese, Gert Emmens, Rob Papen, Bernd Michael Land and many more visited the hall and had time to talk to their fans. Again we did our own catering and it looks like many enjoyed it. And NO!! the different Pie’s where not from the Lidl but from one of the best Pie bakers in Limburg and Marion Papen the wife of Rob take care that we had them day fresh as she brought them!!
And what many noticed, yes we had a lot of stands. Somehow it was told to others that all tickets where sold!! So many wanted a stand (more then we had on offer!!)

The visitors where great, had some nice talks but as I really had to work this year these was just less time the normal. Sorry but I am sure all had a good time. have not seen a negative remark anywhere.

The concerts:
John Christian – have not seen anything from this set but many told me he should be on the main podium 🙂

Ghosts in Mirrors (Koen Buytaert ) – A sound trip into the ambient sounds scapes. A great starter of the day where he slowly brought the music to life.

Stephan Erbe – Wow, I knew he is good but with that film that run with the music (which he made himself!!) it was an expirience. Many noticed the humor in the TXT’s I loved this set. And it sounded fantastic!!

Kontroll Raum – Solid Berlin School, They guys did a great job and they had to stick to a certain time so we only got 45 minutes of the great music they produce!! Next time longer!!

Johannes Schmoelling – Well what can i say. This was a masterpiece of music live. A musical journey we got to enjoy that was just so balanced, mesmerizing and completely evolving. One of the best concerts I have ever put on to be honest. It was all there, Emotion, Fun, Joy and most of all a musical legacy that is amongst the best that we have in our scene. This was just perfect!!

So E-Live has passed and now we are going to start the planning for E-Day that will be in April next year as it looks! We are already looking around for Acts, (Question to you should I do a survey to see who is wanted?) Let me know.

And all releases that where planned for E-Live are now in stock!! Wolfgang Bock – Mintaka Kontroll-Raum (Broekhuis, Rothe + Schönwälder) – Gate 23 Detlef Keller – Spaintronic (2CD) Chuck van Zyl – Gwynedd Steve Roach – Sanctuary of Desire (2CD) ERIK WØLLO – Cloud of Strings Rob Papen – Waiting Däcker – Anthropomorphic Personification REMY – The Other Side: Lost in Reality

NOW Released !!

GR – 348 – Terminus Void – APEIRON
Now availabe as Download and factory pressed CD (with a download)
It will be on Bandcamp tomorrow!!

“Apeiron” is the first real label release introducing Terminus Void’s full dynamic voice, including ambient, Berlin School, downtempo and the classic Terminus Void emotional sound world. It contemplates the abstract concept of the infinite and boundlessness of everything; from the laws of physics to consensus itself and asked the philosophical question of how we fit within its construct. There’s even a mysterious angle to it all, as the composer added various auditory symbology throughout the album which reinforces a broader concept. To decipher these, one must listen to the album as a progression and dig deeper into the meaning of each track. Although the musician isn’t eager to give away his interpretation or detail the storyline of the music, he reveals many of these symbols represent many things on multiple levels.

The music -including the introduction of the Waldorf Quantium synthesizer- was produced from a combination of three additional projects that are in various stages of completion. Composer J. Ronald Smith e.g. built custom 8th note ping-pong delays and multi tracked many of the sequences to add spatial depth. He furthered this with long synth fades tied to note-triggered pans. Creating balance was one of the major challenges found on this concept project, the strategy was to balance the sequences and use what is referred to as “transitional tracks” to keep the flow of the vibe from not becoming overbearing and tiring to the listener.

Moulding and shaping “Apeiron´s” full outcome, which features various subtle Blade Runner influences sprinkled in good taste, proved both daring and intense for Mr Smith, turning out into a rollercoaster of events in the last stage as many adjustments, polishing and subtle transformations were implemented, all rounded out with some stunning 24/48kHz mastering.

Compared to Terminus Void’s first two albums “Interstellar” and “Origins Unknown”, the music of “Apeiron” is a different breed, sounding straightforward: it’s an intruiging and well-done transition to a more dynamic-progressive sound which sets it apart from the majority of typical European melodic synth releases. UK-musician Pat Keista joins forces with Terminus Void on the exciting 9th track “Transmission II”. Pat recalls: “John approached me initially for supplementary work on drums, but our affinity grew into a piece in which I also contributed electric guitars. It was a wonderful experience”. And then there the final track “Beyond Apeiron” which was originally meant a collaborative track with another musician but it fell through in the end. Mr Smith decided to partly rearrange it, adding a lovely piano part and even managed to tame some of the more strident high frequencies in there.

In total, the 65-minute “Apeiron” is a deep listening, multi-level concept project featuring many auditory themes and musical expression styles unfolding throughout the full-length journey. Highly recommended!

GR – 352 – AE van Elst Projects – One

Both brothers Arjan and Eelco have been involved with electronic music from an early age. Their desire to share their music with fans of electronic music resulted in this latest album to be released on Groove. The songs have the emphasis on atmospheric instrumental themes.

A characteristic of their way of composing is that they often start with a single sound, for example a preset from a synthesizer or sample.
Other sounds are added, ultimately resulting in a full-fledged composition.
The music of AE van Elst Projects is created with both analog synthesizers and virtual instruments; combining old school with the latest developments in synthesizer world.

The album ‘ One’ is the first of three in collaboration with Ron Boots.
The second release will be inspired by the first albums of Jean Michel Jarre,
who let them discover the world of electronic music and its fascinating new soundscapes.
