E-News 1360 – March 9th 2024

Dear customers, friends, followers and supporters,

Next week I will be in the UK for the first Awakenings Festival 2024.

The evening will feature 4 sets, 2 each from David and me, featuring solo sets and guest appearances from Carys, Harold van der Heijden & Stephan Whitlan.
We might even do an improve set at the end if there is time 🙂
You can come on the day and pay on the door, but if you can’t make it in person don’t forget the Virtual Ticket option, which is an audio download of the full event, delivered a few days after the gig. That is 4 hours of music for you (unique music!!).
More info and tickets here.

As far as I can see right now, we will perform most of the album during our concert at the E-Day festival on April 20th (LESS THEN 20 TICKETS LEFT!!)
(together with Harold van der Heijden.

Also Remy Stroomer (REMY) and Peter Dekker (Däcker) got the opportunity to premier their collaboration at BYSS. This album contains the registration of their improvised concert.

Performed by REMY (Remy Stroomer) and Däcker (Peter Dekker) at BYSS, December 19th, 2020.

Mike Rutherford – Smallcreep’s Day

A brilliant album although not just EM it has a very synth feel!

‘Smallcreep’s Day’ is the first solo studio album by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford. The 24-minute title track is based on the 1965 novel “Smallcreep’s Day” by Peter Currell Brown which tells the story of Mr. Smallcreep. Rutherford has recruited some prog heavyweights to serve as his band here like Anthony Phillips on the keyboards, Noel McCalla (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band 1991-2009) vocals, Morris Pert (Brand X & later Talk Talk) provides percussion, and the estimable Simon Phillips (Ten CC, The Who, Toto a.o.) is behind the drum kit, thundering away on his trademark double bass drums. From the opening “Moonshine” with its trademark Rutherford bass pedals, and infectious keyboards to closing “At the End of the Day” the album is moving and anthemic.

Steve Roach – Structures from silence 40th Anniversary (3 versions)

Projekt celebrates the 40th anniversary of this ambient classic with a beautiful remastered limited edition LP, 1CD, & 3CD. (check the shop for the versions)
https://www.groove.nl/shop/?v=796834e7a283 Structures from Silence‘s breathing, suspended embrace of atmospheres and serene melodies instantly struck a chord with listeners in 1984; the album continues to reiterate its timeless resonations with new listeners today. On this landmark recording of gentle proportions, the three long-form tracks were the birth of something new: an original and pure statement striking a balance between diaphanous and understated, deep and reflective. The listening experience evokes a sense of silence within the music as well as the space between the chords. It expresses the breath of life and offers a meditation on delicate strands of subtle awareness. Forty years later, Structures from Silence remains an iconic American release in the ambient and electronic genres. It’s a well-respected soundtrack for contemplation, relaxation, meditation, and creativity. Emotional, powerful, and enriching, it is a living example of the true healing quality that music can hold. Steve reflects, “Structures from Silence remains a still point in suspended time for me when looking back over the… more
